History

If the Joker defines madman, Harriet "Harley" Quinn defines sick. She is that rarest of all criminals, the female serial killer. To the Joker, death is an art-form. He has no emotional attachment to his victims. Miss Quinn, on the other hand, kills for the sheer pleasure of inflicting death as a climax to inflicting pain and fear.

She prefers to kill those people with whom she has just had sex, sometimes after the act, sometimes during. The only person she doesn't try this on is the Joker--and that is probably because of the fact that he was violently domineering from the outset of their "relationship".

Why is she like this? Delving into her history provides no clues. She was born to a well-to-do Philadelphia family, educated at the finest schools and ended up attending the Juliard Academy, where she majored in Drama and Dance, obtaining the highest marks.

It was here that her dark side emerged. No longer under the guidance of her parents, young Harley soon became a regular "quiff". Somewhere in her licentious life, she became acquainted with the "philosophy of the Marquis", to put matters delicately. During one of those types of encounters, matters got out of hand, and she fatally strangled her partner. From that point on, she was set on her path.

At first, she hid her proclivities, but after her fourth victim she was discovered. Only her father's influence prevented her from being executed, but she was sentenced to Arkham Asylum for the remainder of her natural life. The Joker was currently incarcerated at the same institution, and the two of them escaped together.

Since that time, Harlequin has accompanied the Joker. He evidently has some feelings for her to tolerate her presence, given that each time he has been captured since they met has been due to her "habits".

Appearance

Harriet Quinn is an attractive, atheletic young woman. The Harlequin dresses in a scandalously tight bodysuit, intentionally designed to show off her assets. Her blonde hair is covered by an integral hood, which is decorated with three bell-tassels. She covers her face in white make-up when in costume and wears a black domino mask.
